It's coming together.

I posted some of these photos on our Facebook page but it was brought to my attention that several people don't do Facebook and would like me to start posting our progress on my blog. I would be glad to do that. Sorry I haven't posted more often, there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day for everything.

The sections in the shop are starting to come together. The above is the start of a few pieces done in a custom navy blue. Each section will have furniture, frames, mirrors and accessories that coordinate. In this photo, are two end tables of different styles that we rescued. Still working on more pieces, a table and chairs will be added.
This black cabinet and hutch were in Fabric Town. The cabinet is vintage but the hutch top is not. Jeff attached the two pieces together to make one unit. I didn't want to do too much to the cabinet because of it's age. We just left it with the nicks and scratches, it has character. The rocker needed a new seat, so Jeff is making the base and we'll add a cover. This section has many more pieces to add, they're just curing in the back.
What can I say... FALL. Well known that it's my favorite season. I'd have the entire shop done like this year round. It's got to be the colors. I'm a pumpkin, corn stalk and mum  lover. Cool Crisp days, Chili dinners and Haralson Apples. Those things all say Fall to me.  This is just one of our seasonal displays, the front of the shop is done as well.
Our Grand Opening is 10:00 AM Saturday, October 13th. We are excited to show you what we've been working on. Stop in, check us out and enjoy a cup of coffee and bakery treat.

Enjoy the crisp day.

My new career

My new career is FANTASTIC. I totally love to go to work each morning and have a hard time leaving at night. Quahog is even going to Dog Day Getaway to play all day so I don't have to worry about him. Many mornings my day starts at 6:30 at Home Depot. This was earlier in the week, I'm becoming a regular.
This particular morning, I swung by the power tools. I've got a drill and sander but was interested in getting a smaller sander. They had a few but not exactly what I need. You wouldn't believe it, but I'm actually good at this, power tools and goggles. Who knew???
On to the paint section. I have a thing about paint swatches. The colors and possibilities are endless.
I like to check out the  paint brushes and accessories. It's the same as a quilter... you have to get all the latest tools and accessories. The better your equipment, the better your finished product.
On to Spackle, fillers and sandpaper. I've learned everything there is learn about grit.
This is Bill, he's the Go-To guy in the paint department. Really helpful and always smiling.
Finally done getting my supplies.... Oh - a plant managed to get into my cart, again. Another thing I can't seem to get enough of.

Well, that's how I start my day.  I'm very busy trying to get ready for our Grand Opening. We have set the date.... Saturday, October 13, 2012  at 10:00 AM
For those who aren't aware of the address.... Next Act is two doors down from where Fabric Town was located at 7635 148th Street  Apple Valley, MN 55124. Our phone number is (952) 432-5001

I'll post a few photos of the projects that I've been working on... hope to see you at the opening.
